Dear Parents,
We welcomed the announcement yesterday, by the NI Executive, regarding the reduction of social distancing amongst pupils, to 1m. This will help us to facilitate more pupils in each classroom. We read, with envy, that some schools will struggle to get more than 18 or 19 pupils in their rooms of 56 square metres. Our classrooms measure in the region of 42 square metres. Therefore, we would hope to be able to accommodate half a class in each room.
However, we are looking at all the available space in our school, and with the appropriate approval, funding, risk assessments and, not least, staff, in place, it may be possible to accommodate a greater number of pupils.
As arrangements and advice from the PHA and the Department of Education are changing on a regular basis, we cannot yet confirm the start date. We understand, and share, your frustrations over this.
